Food is served at the Rose & Crown daily and you can chose to dine in our bar area or in our separate dining room. The cosy bar area features an open inglenook fireplace with a crackling fire on winter days, decorated in a traditional style with old photographs of local people and places. The low ceilings and beams help it retain the feel of a warm and friendly traditional country pub.
Our separate dining room, just off the bar, gives a more intimate dining experience with linen-draped tables at the weekend and candlelight in the evenings. It is similarly decorated in a traditional style with many interesting photographs and pictures of Ashwell’s history. Wherever you choose to eat you will be looked after by our attentive and friendly staff.

Our locally reknowned chef, Chris Wood, has built an excellent reputation with us over the past five years and his love of fishing is reflected in the many fresh fish dishes available on our menu. Everything on our menu is home cooked using trusted local suppliers and seasonal ingredients, where possible.We have an A la Carte menu served daily together with our Specials Board, lunchtimes and evenings and a lighter selection of snacks also available for lunch. Our legendary fresh Fish & Chips is available Monday to Friday lunchtimes and Monday to Thursday evenings (also available to takeaway – much to the delight of local residents!). On Sunday we serve a traditional Sunday roast together with a selection of other hot & cold dishes.

The dining room is a perfect place for a private function, seating a maximum of 30 in comfort, be it a special family meal or gathering or a business meeting. Our chef, Chris, is happy to discuss personal requirements and come up with menus to suit your tastes and financial requirements.
