Welcome to the Rose & Crown pub situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Ashwell, near Baldock in Hertfordshire. Built in the 16th Century, the Rose & Crown is the oldest public house in the village retaining many original features including wooden beams and a large inglenook fireplace. It is the perfect place to settle on a cold winter’s evening or equally on a warm summer’s day in our large secluded and enclosed beer garden. We offer a warm and friendly welcome to everyone The village of Ashwell has a wealth of things to see; it is a very popular local tourist attraction and a great place to base a walk from. We have a magnificent local church, many fine traditional houses (some medieval) a Museum, cottage garden and Ashwell Springs – the source of the River Cam – to name but a few.
The Rose & Crown offers a fine range of well kept traditional ales Greene King IPA, Speckled Hen and a seasonal Guest Ale – together with a choice of three lagers and a great selection of wines from around the world.A meal at the Rose & Crown is a must whether you choose to relax in the traditional-feeling bar or sit in our separate intimate dining room. Our varied menu features a great selection of fresh fish specials, seasonal produce and old favourites. Open lunchtimes and evenings, we can get very busy, so please book ahead.
Open Monday to Friday from 11.30am to 2.30pm and 5.30pm to 11pm. On Saturday and Sunday we are open all day.
Food is served daily, except Sunday, from 12 noon to 2pm and again from 7pm to 9pm. On Sunday food is available from 12 noon to 3pm.
